Four in a row!!! 2017 Professional Family Photographer of the Year – Again!
Last month the WA Epson Professional Photography Awards were held, my favourite time of the local photographic year 🙂
For a few days, I get to crawl out of my dark editing cave and catch up with great friends, make new friends and generally talk to other grown ups who love photography. And eat a lot of chocolate!
The annual challenge of finding/creating/shooting and/or editing my entries is such a valuable experience. Every year, I go through my past few years work, assessing and reviewing where I’m at and where I’m headed. Some years I’m inspired to create new work, learn new techniques and push myself further than I’ve gone before. Without the unmovable deadlines, these works might stay on the one day list.
This year, along with entering the family portrait category, I also entered a series of my travel portraits, as well as for the first time ever the travel photography section! This category was very new to me and I really enjoyed getting outside my comfort zone! I judged several categories as well, including newborn and pets, the image standard in these categories was out of the park!
I was pretty stoked to win two silvers for two of my travel images, along with some very favourable comments from two of the countries most esteemed travel photographers. One of my travel portraits also received a silver.
But the big news.
The news I could never. Even in my wildest dreams predict. Was once again, winning the category most dear to my heart.
The 2017 AIPP Family Photographer of the Year!
Thank you to my completely awesome clients who allow me into their lives to capture these heartwarming images. Thank you!
Your WA Professional Family Photographer of the Year 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017!
And because this is a photography blog! Here are some of my winning entries – a few are going off to the national awards in a few months, so I’ll share them then 🙂
